Who is Karoline Leavitt?
Born in 1977 in Atkinson, New Hampshire, Leavitt was raised in the Catholic faith. The daughter of business owners, Leavitt graduated from Central Catholic High School in 2015 and attended Sait Anselm College on a softball scholarship.
During her time at Sait Anselm, Leavitt founded the first broadcasting club at the school. However, she arguably became more famous for her fervent defense of President Trump’s travel ban. She graduated in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and politics, the first in her family to obtain a college degree.
Her rise to fame was quick as she became an assistant press secretary under Kayleigh McEnany in 2019. This was followed by becoming communications director for Elise Stefanik, a US representative from New York.
In 2022, Leavitt announced her candidacy for New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district. And while her brazen style and youth helped win her the Republican primary, she was defeated by Democrat Chris Pappas in the general election.
After the election, Leavitt was accused of accepting illegal campaign donations that were over the lawful limit and did not reimburse donors. In response, she amended her campaign filings which included donations that had not been disclosed before.
Leavitt currently holds the role of White House press secretary, a continuation of the role she held as national press secretary for the Trump campaign of 2024.
With an estimated net worth of $6 million, Leavitt is married to real estate developer Nicholas Riccio and the couple has a son born on July 13th, 2024.
